Should I choose composite or wood decking?
Pressure-treated wood costs less up front and looks classic, but needs regular staining and sealing. Composite and PVC cost more initially but resist fading, rot and splinters and need almost no upkeep — often the better value over time. We will walk you through the trade-offs for your budget.
Do I need a permit for my deck or fence?
Many decks — especially raised ones or those attached to the house — require a building permit, and some fences have height rules depending on location. We will let you know what your project needs and make sure it is built to code.
How long will a new deck last?
A well-built pressure-treated deck can last 15 to 20 years with maintenance; composite and PVC often go longer with less work. The foundation is key — footings set below the frost line keep it from heaving through our freeze-thaw winters.
What is the best fence for privacy?
Solid wood and vinyl privacy fences are the most popular for blocking sightlines and wind while giving your yard a clean edge. Vinyl costs more but never needs painting; wood is affordable and easy to customize. We will help you pick based on look, budget and maintenance.
